COMMENTS:
- Coach Hatch’s weightlifting team members have been selected to forty-one (two of these were in the Olympics) U.S. International teams and won forty-three national Championships. He coached Tommy Calandro (1984 Olympian) as well as Bret Brian (1988 and 1992 Olympian).
- In December 1961, he scored forty-four points for Northwestern State (LA) against Kentucky Wesleyan; they were ranked third in the nation. Hatch’s 18 field goals made out of twenty-one attempts in that game is not only still a school record but also ranks as one of college basketballs all-time best.
